Why we should focus research on "knowledge manager"
Following several mails and feedbacks about my previous post on the publications in knowledge management, I have decided to investigate this matter a little bit deeper.
In the chart below, you can find the number of publications related to:
- Knowledge Management;
- Organizational Knowledge;
- Knowledge Manager.
Result is: 5 articles mentioning the key word "knowledge manager" compared to almost 600 for "knowledge management". Quantitatively, there is a huge gap between the literature on "knowledge management" and the literature on "knowledge manager".
Conclusion: there is room for researchers on that matter !

Your point about the "knowledge manager" is excellent.
I was just getting at the point: who should take the role ?
My first view point is that knowledge relies on people, hence the HRM should take it.
My companion view is that the CEO should also step in, as KM should become a profit center.

knowledge management is all about sharing tacit knowledge NOT explicit one .. and some time wiki, sometime blog, some time discussion forum and sometime existing document indexing work well but there is no absolute solution.
